Trip Overview

This trip will take you to one of Nepal’s most unique remote and restricted region bordering Tibet. A special permission is required as limited numbers of tourist are permitted annually to enter this region which we will manage on your behalf.

The bumpy ride on a rugged terrain will pass through the magnificent landscapes, barren ridges, deep canyons, eroded cliffs and moraine valleys.

You will experience the local culture, lifestyle and tradition of the mountain people who are highly influenced from Tibet because of long historical and cultural ties. Your journey to the medieval settlement of Upper Mustang on the trans-Himalayan desert will always be full of surprises. You will spot ancient caves, centuries-old monasteries, archaeological sites and mystical holes in the walls of the hills. Not to forget, you will be savouring local delicacies over the different stops as well. Don’t forget to taste nationally-renowned apple, apple pie and apple wines of Mustang.

Your adventure begins with a short flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, passing through two giant mountains: Dhaulagiri (8167m.) & Annapurna I (8091m.) and the world’s deepest Kaligandaki George. 

Trip itinerary

  • 01 Arrival and transfer to hotel.

  • 02 Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation for the trip.

  • 03 Destination Pokhara.

    After breakfast, you will drive to Pokhara on a comfortable tourist coach. (5-6 hrs) or take a flight.  For the remaining part of the day, we will take you for sightseeing. You could either visit the World Peace Pagoda atop a hill or boat lazily at the beautiful Fewa Lake. Overnight at Hotel.

  • 04 Fly to Jomsom (20 min).

    Drive to Kagbeni, a medieval settlement at the bank of Kaligandaki River after a short visit to Muktinath Temple. Muktinath is a sacred temple revered by Hindus and Buddhist alike. Overnight at Lodge.

  • 05 Drive to Ghami Village (5-6hrs).

    You will pass through different settlements at Chele and Syanboche before reaching Ghami Village. Beautiful barren landscapes with mountains on your right will be soothing your eyes. You will have ample time to explore the surrounding areas and understand the Tibetan lifestyle and culture during the day. You will be encountering many mystical holes in the wall of the hills. It is believed that monks used to meditate in those holes may areas ago. Overnight at Lodge.

  • 06 Drive to Lo-Manthang (2-3hrs).

     After a couple of hours drive, you will reach the walled city, Lo-Manthang. You will be cruising through the mountain-desert with the magnificent view of Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna and other peaks.  You will also be able to visit Different gompas, Chortens and the longest MANI wall in Mustang. For the remaining part of the day, you will explore the mystical kingdom. Overnight at Lodge.

  • 07 Lo-Manthang exploration day.

    Today you will visit Namgyal Gompa, an important monastery and also a local court. Then you will visit the last main village to the Northwest of Lo-Manthang. Chhosar Monastery, Chosar cave, Jhong Cave, Summer Palace of the Mustang’s King are other attractions you will be able to explore today. Overnight at lodge.

  • 08 Drive back to Chuksang Village (4-5hrs).

    You will drive back to Chuksang village passing through Ghara, Dhi and Ghiling village making stops at those places. You will also visit different Buddhist stupas on the way. Lay back and enjoy the serene surrounding. Overnight at a lodge.

  • 09 Drive back to Jomsom (3-4 hrs).

    After breakfast, we will drive towards Jomsom. You will experience the midday strong wind blow here. It’s a short drive back to Jomsom so you can relax for the day and treat yourself with the famous Mustang wine, brandy or a chilled beer  perhaps.!

  • 10 Fly to Pokhara (15-20 min). Fly to Kathmandu. (20-25 Min)

    A short but panoramic flight will take you back to the beautiful lake city, Pokhara.

    You can take a  flight same day to Kathmandu or Spend the day in the beautiful city exploring the alleyways of Lakeside full with handicrafts and curios and buy some for friends and families back home. You can visit the Davis Fall or just relax near the fewa lake watching the shadow of Mount Fishtail on its serene water.

  • 11 Final Departure.

    Fly back home.

  • International Airfare and Nepal Visa fee
  • Excess baggage charges during domestic flights. Airlines rate for excess weight excluding 15 KGS permitted varies mostly ranging from 1-2 USD per KG.
  • Extra night accommodation in Kathmandu in the case of late departure and early arrival.
  • Lunch and evening meal in Kathmandu
  • Travel & Health Insurance
  • Emergency Helicopter Rescue Insurance
  • Expenses occur due to the case of early return from mountain to Kathmandu than the scheduled itinerary which includes accommodation and meals
